American Roots Music
Hip-hop is one of the most popular and cultural music that brings everyone together and vibes. Hip hop was originally in New York where you have 2pac, Biggie, Naughty By Nature, slick rick, Brandy, etc. Hip-Hop was born in New York in the 1970s. Where it became more popular and everyone is listing to hip-hop was in the Bronx where you have the best DJs playing their mixtapes and everyone is listening to them go to work and see which DJs have the best mixes. for example one of the DJs that were popular in the Bronx in the 90s or late 80s was DJ Grandmaster Flash. He was one of the best DJs that was ever to have the best mixes in New York. Then after DJs mix tapes you have rappers called MCs. MCs means Master of Ceremonies; that means these rappers would have the best flows to be called an MC. One of them that is called MC LL Cool J and Special Ed. Their flow was something different from the normal ear. Special Ed is one of the youngest rappers that was in the game with a creative flow and one of the rappers as a lyrical genius.

As time progresses you have one of the iconic rappers that people talk about today 2pac and Biggie. There are still arguments between the two rappers saying who's the best or the King of New York. Next, you would have female rappers like Brandy, Eve, etc outside of New York as the year progress. These two females are one of the coldest females with the best flow, but in New York, you have the queen of New York in that era Lil Kim. Her flow was something serious for a female repping New York. On the hand, migrating out of New York you would have different rappers in different countries with a different style for their hometown like Will Smith a Philly kid rapping in the rap game. Next is Outkast rappers from Atlanta Georgia and that's where the music starts evolving because rappers from Georgia were getting more respect from people from around the world their styles is different. After that whole beef at the BET Music award show with the South, they gained a lot of respect after that. Outkast had put Atlanta Georgia on the map because of the way flow on the beat is something serious like for example, so fresh and so clean, Ms. Jackson and etc.

It was super cool to learn about DJ Grandmaster Flash. I have never heard of him before or any other super-famous DJs before. I really enjoyed the song by Special Ed, "I Got It Made" He had excellent lyrics, and I liked the beats behind his voice.
ReplyDeleteI like how you added soul music along with hip hop because these two types of music go hand and hand together. I also enjoyed you putting Outkast in your blog and how he helped Atlanta.
