Music and Me

     Hi everyone! I am Nigel smith and I'm a student in this class I play basketball here at Converse University.  When I was younger I was in the middle school band for a year and it was fun. I played the trumpet and played the drums. One thing that has my interest in this class is learning how to hear different sounds from music and how it would affect the whole rhythm and also why that producer chose that certain beat.

    The city where I was born and raised is called Lawrenceville which is in Georgia. I ended up in Spartanburg through basketball and am really glad that this is where I am. I'm the only child in my family with a lot of cousins. Things that I like to do while I'm not playing basketball are that I play video games, watch youtube, work out, and talk to my friends. While here at Converse, I am going to school to major in business administration which leads to Sports management.

the most recent song I had listen to today is by Brent Faiyaz "All Mines".  

The next song is Key Glock called Pain killers. This is a good song if you like rap music.
But the music I listen to when I'm by myself is R&B music because I believe 90's music and R&B music helps me calm down and think about certain thing that happens in my life. It also helps me think better while I do my schoolwork and get me ready for my basketball games. One R&B song I listen to is Tyrese's "Sweet Lady".

    Hi Nigel! I really like Brent Faiyaz's song "All Mines", I've heard it in several TikTok's before, so I know it's one of his bigger songs. However, I have friends who like his music too, and his voice is soothing and nice to listen to. Second, I really like Tyrese's "How You Gonna Act Like That"! It actually just brought me down a total rabbit hole for like 10 minutes, because I listen to a song that sounds exactly like it. Turns out they have the same producer LOL. Thank you for putting me onto the original though :)

    I also really enjoy Brent Faiyaz because when listening to his music you can find a really good vibe just like the song you picked "All Mines." Another song that I like from him would be Dead Man Walking.

    I also like to listen to R&B. I feel like it has some sort of relaxation to the music. I love Georgia, I have never been to where you are from, but Georgia is all around a beautiful place.

Music and Gender

  Most genders would listen to rap music or chill music because that's what they like to hear at that moment. Music is where any gender can listen and dance freely. For example, most genders would listen to NBA young boys. Because he is one of the most famous rappers in the rap game. Then you Lil Baby; he is one of the "GOATS'' in the game too. His wordplay and freestyles are hard.  With every song or feature, you have of him he never misses. Then most genders would listen to him speak straight facts about anything and everything about Be J. Cole, But he's really underrated when it comes to stuff like this. Next, you have Kendrick Lamar, one of the best wordplay rappers. Then you would some rapper that wants to be romantic when different genders would listen to Tory Lanze, Jacquees, toosii, and H.E.R.
